Composable Commerce: The Future Of E-Commerce

Consumers love e-commerce for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the flexibility and customization options it offers. With just a few clicks, consumers can find an item that matches their exact specifications — and they can do this from virtually anywhere any time of the day or night. When building the platforms behind e-commerce, however, businesses have found their options severely limited for a long time. Because many providers tried to offer one-size-fits-all solutions, companies were often forced to purchase functions they didn’t need or weren’t quite right for their customers. That is starting to change.

The newest buzzword in the industry is “composable commerce,” and it isn’t hard to see why once you understand how it works. This refers to a cloud-native, component-based and tech-agnostic solution to designing and building an e-commerce platform. In essence, it allows companies to pick and choose the functions that make the most sense for them and have them all work together without concerns about compatibility. Each touchpoint along the customer journey can be selected independently of the others, yet together they create a seamless omnichannel experience.

Adopting this approach comes with a host of benefits for businesses. These include lower operating costs, near-infinite scalability, greater agility, and a smoother customer experience. In a way, composable commerce offers e-commerce businesses the same flexibility and convenience their customers are seeking. If you want to learn more about this concept and how it works, take a look at the accompanying resource for a summary.
